Deploying the migration

  1. Migrating with iteration
    • Requires a migration tool/development (tool programming required)
    • Allows you to use the system in parallel (the source system remains available until the latest version)
    • 3 iterations (some systems with 1-2 depending on the maturity of the migration program)
    • Longer, but more flexible
    • Allows you to do the training in parallel

  2. Migration with templates
    • Allows you to import datas and contents with a template in Excel format
    • Allows you to transfer files/folders: "Import Client";
      • Useful for unstructured/semi-structured content, e.g. Shares, network.
    • Approach that requires a freeze of the source system (once testing is completed)
    • Allows you to modify the migrated structure by adjusting the templates
      • Only recommended if experienced with templates
