Article summary

Configuring search provides access to the following three options: Metadata Search Boost, Query Search Boost, and Configure Facets.

This option allows you to increase the importance of metadata in a specific field (e.g., title, keywords, etc.) during the search. In the example below, the title has a predominant value, which is 20x larger than other metadata.

Example with a search for the word formation
Here is the search with a value of 20 in the title. This makes it possible to highlight the elements that include the search term in their "Title" before the elements that have the same term in other fields.
Here's the same search without using the "Metadata Search Boost" option.

1.1 Create a "Metadata Search Boost"

  1. Click on " Administration " in the navigation menu;
  2. Click on " Search Configuration ";
  3. Then click on " Search boost by metadata ";
  4. In the window, click " Add ";
  5. In the " Add/Edit " window, choose the metadata for which you want to change the value;
  6. Decide on the value to assign to this metadata during the search (20, 30, 35, etc.) and click on " Save ";
  7. In this example, the value of the keywords is now 30, while the value of the title is 20. The elements with the search term in the keywords are therefore before those with the search term in the title.
Value
The value allows you to manage which metadata is more important than another. The number is not as important as the difference between the values. For example, if I set the title metadata to 20, and the author metadata to 5, it means that the title metadata has priority over the author. The difference between the numbers allows you to manage the other metadata.

1.2 Edit a "Metadata Search Boost"

  1. Click on " Administration " in the navigation menu;
  2. Click on " Search Configuration ";
  3. Then click on " Search boost by metadata ";
  4. In the window, click on the notebook to the right of the name of the item to be modified;
  5. Make the necessary changes (metadata or values) and click on " Save ".

1.3 Remove a "Metadata Search Boost"

  1. Click on " Administration " in the navigation menu";
  2. Click on " Search Configuration ";
  3. Then click on " Search boost by metadata ";
  4. In the windowclick on the red " X " to the right of the name of the item to be deleted;
  5. A confirmation window appears, click on " Yes ".

2. Boost search by query

This advanced feature makes certain search results more relevant depending on the query created. Some programming in the form of queries is required to use this option.

2.1 Create a "Search Boost per Query"

  1. Click on " Administration " in the navigation menu;
  2. Click on " Search Configuration ";
  3. Then click on " Search boost by query ";
  4. In the window, click on " Add ";
  5. In the " Add/Edit " window, choose a label, decide on the value to assign to the query during the search (10, 20, 30, 35, etc.), then enter the query (The query is created by using the code of a metadata, for example, the code of the metadata Title is title).
  6. Click on " Save ".

2.2 Edit a "Search Boost per Query"

  1. Click on " Administration " in the navigation menu;
  2. Then click on " Search boost by query ";
  3. In the window, click on the notebook to the right of the name of the item to be modified;
  4. Make the necessary changes (label, value or query) and click on " Save ".

2.3 Remove a "Search Boost per Query"

  1. Click on " Administration " in the navigation menu;
  2. Then click on " Search boost by query ";
  3. In the " Search boost by query " window, click on the red to the right of the name of the item to be deleted;
  4. A confirmation window appears, click on " Yes ".
