1. SIP archives
A SIP archive is a ".zip" file that allows long-term preservation of digital documents. In the file generated by Constellio, each electronic document is located in a folder tree representing the classification plan and accompanied by an XML file containing the metadata related to the documents and folders.
1.1 Generate a SIP archive
It is possible to generate a SIP archive via:
- Advanced search
- The selection panel
- Favorites
- The decommissioning list
The "Create a SIP archive" option is available in the action menus.

Once registered, the SIP archive is available in the "Temporary Records" of the Personal Space or Administration page.
Steps to recover the .zip file:
- Personal space -> Temporary records;
- " SIP Archives " tab;
- Click on the .zip file in the " Contents " section of the table;
- The .zip is downloaded to your computer.

1.2 SIP archive descriptors
SIP archive descriptors are used to create multiple SIP archive descriptors.
When SIP archive descriptors are established, when creating a SIP archive, you will be able to choose one of these descriptors or fill out a new creation form. This function saves a step when creating a SIP archive.
