1. Update Center
The Update Center screen allows you to update Constellio, and presents a set of information to visualize the consumption of the environment. To access the update center, it is necessary to open the control menu and open the "Update Center" feature.
Update Center screen options | |
---|---|
Option | Description |
Restart application | Restart the application. Constellio will not be accessible while the service is restarted. |
Restart application and reindex | Reindexing improves the speed of reindexing Constellio items such as folders, search, calculated metadata, etc. Reindexing Reindexing takes place throughout the system, so all collections are present in your environment. |
Restart application and rebuild cache | Rebuilding the cache adds missing information to the cache. Defining the cache The cache makes it possible to store in the application even the important and frequently consulted information of the database. This reduces database resources and allows Constellio to improve its response times and be able to respond to more competing users. What causes cache rebuilding If a new data type is added to the cache (for example by configuring metadata schemas) or a synchronization needs to be made between the database and the cache, it is necessary to rebuild the cache. |
Automatic mode | Disables manual mode. |
Manual mode | Allows manual updating of Constellio using an update file. |
Upload a license | Redirects to the license upload page. Allows you to update the Constellio license. |
Print the last announcement | Allows you to print the last announcement made in Constellio. |
My license | Provides information about your license such as your plan, the modules to which you are entitled, your number of users, and your memory. |
2. System button
The system button offers several information about Constellio's consumption. The button is located on the left under the different tabs of the user. This is where Constellio indicates when a restart is required.

Warning requiring intervention Constellio tells you when a state requires intervention and puts it in a red box grouping them. |
3. Definition of reindexation
Reindexing improves the speed of reindexing Constellio items such as folders, search, calculated metadata, etc. This is done throughout the system, so all collections are present in your environment.
3.1 Reindex
- Go to "Administration".
- Go to "Update Center".
- Click on the "Restart application and reindex" option at the top right of the page. This will cause Constellio to restart and reindex.
3.2 What are the conditions that force a reindexation?
The following manipulations can lead to reindexation (depending on the version of Constellio used):
- When activating the " Searchable " and/or " Sort " function in the metadata management form;
- When a change is made to a taxonomy and the taxonomy is linked to more than 10,000 records (e.g., changing the coding of an entry in the classification plan and that entry is linked to more than 10,000 records);
- When a change is made to a configuration (Pilotage -> Configuration) and this change affects more than 10,000 records;
- Some updates to a newer version of Constellio result in reindexing.
- Reindexing is required when creating a calculated metadata, to calculate the value of the metadata for all existing records.
4. Using automatic mode
Automatic mode allows you to update your instance to a version published by the Constellio team. Your Constellio server must have access to the internet and you must have a valid upload license for this feature to be available.
When a minor or major version newer than yours is made available by the Constellio team, it will be displayed in the drop-down menu.
5. Using manual mode
Manual mode allows you to install a version of Constellio with an update file.
- Go to the update center from the pilot.
- Select the "Actions" menu, then "Manual Mode".
- Two options exist to provide the installation file to Constellio:
- If you have been provided with a .war file, drag it into the box provided.
- If a URL has been provided to you, copy it into the field provided and click on "Download and update".
- Click on "Update Now" at the bottom of the page.
- Once the processing is complete, click on "Restart" to restart Constellio and apply the update.
